I got that protein, shake, whine n roooolll.
This rice krisy recipe I adapted from Chocolate-Covered Katie's, it's bascially the same, but with a few added treats for pleasure ;D
Recipe
Ingredients:
- 2 1/2 cups rice krispies
- 3 tablespoons protein powder (I used vanilla whey powder)
- 1/4 cup sultanas
- 1/4 cup peanuts
- 1/2 cup + 2 tablespoons peanut butter
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract.
Directions:
Prepare a baking tin lined with baking paper.
- Roast peanuts in oven at 180 degrees c until golden, it will take about 10 mins (unless peanuts are already bought roasted)
- Combine rice krispies, protein powder, sultanas and roasted peanuts together in a bowl.
- In a pan heat up, but do not let boil, peanut butter, honey and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the peanut butter mixture over the rice krispy mixture and stir together making sure that all the rice krispies are coated.
- Pour the combined mixture into the baking tin.
- Smooth and press down mixture with a spatula.
- Once cool, leave in fridge for 40 mins.
- Remove from fridge.
- Cut and serve! :) This recipe makes 18 rice krispy snacks orrrr 36 rice krispy bites ;D
Filling my 3x14x23 baking sheet lined pan.
Yummy! These treats are crisp and chewy! Much better than snacking on wafer biscuits!
I will just use 1 teaspoon of vanilla essence next time instead of 2, as it was a toooouch sweet or I may just omit it out completely. Also minus one tablespoon of peanut butter and honey from the recipe to see how that turns out as I think the ratio of wet ingredients to dry ingredients was too high...
Each snack contains 130kcal and 4g of protein.
Or if you choose to make the smaller bite size ones (recipe makes 36 rice krispy bites), each bite contains 65kcal and 2g of protein.
