HELLO ALDI!
One of the cheapest supermarkets you can shop at here in the UK I would say!
And who would think I would ever get excited about a grocery shop here! Until my manager at work told me about how Aldi sells 3 tuna steaks for £3!! And with it he shared with me his tuna steak recipe, finished with a kiss of the fingertips.
I had to go and buy this bargain tuna and try his finger kissing recipe out for myself!
Fishing could never get so easy! Tuna Tuna Tuna- I caught you!
Aldi sells these packets of frozen tuna for a bargain hunter worthy price of £2.99! There are 4 in a pack. All individually wrapped!
Receipe
Ingredients:
- 1 packet of Aldi frozen tuna
- 6 cloves of garlic finely diced
- 3 tsp soy sauce
- 1/4 tsp of dijon mustard
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup olive oil
- Lemon sliced
Directions:
- Defrost tuna steaks
- Mix the ingredients together apart from the sliced lemon
- Marinade together overnight with the tuna steaks
- When adding to oven place a medium slice of lemon on each tuna steak.
- Cook for approx 25 mins at 220 C, half way through pour abit of left over marinade on to the tuna steaks and squeeze a little lemon juice.
- Serve with sides of your choice!
I served up my tuna steak with carrot and potato mash, and steamed mixed vegetables.
Enjoy! :)
This was the first time I've cooked tuna before, usually I have the tinned version or I've even tried the raw one too which I hated! I can't say I'm very keen on tuna! That is unless its mixed with a dollop of mayonnaise! I did however really enjoy the mustardy lemony marinade and I think it would work much better with salmon!
Close up inspection!
Tuna has this dry texture even with sauce. Lucky I had my creamy mash there on the side to save the day! Maybe I put the tuna in the oven for too long... I would try decreasing the cook time to 20 minutes if I were to make this again and piercing a few holes into the tuna to make that marinade soak in that extra more.
Take care of your food and it in turn will look after you! :)
